ABS handles heat and mechanical load where PLA gives up. It can be sanded, drilled, tapped and smoothed with acetone vapour.

Worth knowing
ABS shrinks as it cools and can lift at the corners or split between layers. An enclosure and no draughts matter more here than the exact temperature. It gives off fumes while printing — ventilate the room.
